What is the status of JQM indexations?

JQM is indexed with

  • Crossref
  • Directory of Research Journals Indexing (DRJI)
  • Google Scholar
  • Index Copernicus International (ICI)

  • Genamics

However, requests for inclusion have been submitted to a few other research databases and indexing agencies which are in process. The information will be updated as soon as they confirm.

 Is this JQM HEC recognized?

As per the Higher Education Commission (HEC) policy, the journal can apply for a category after two years from its first publication. Currently, we are heading towards the fourth issue and looking forward to acquire a category from HEC in near future.

 What is the submission criterion for JQM?

All submissions must meet following criteria to be eligible for refereeing:

  • Scope:
    • The journal supports multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary approaches to the quantitative methods, business, and economics. Thus, it encourages the original, innovative and critical thinking which will contribute to knowledge and understanding in different areas.
  • Type of Articles:
    • Articles based on empirical work are highly encouraged, besides the manuscripts having a strong literature base with advancements/novelty in theory or economic modelling which represents/depicts development in a particular field.
    • The focus of the journal is on the research rigor, modelling, data-driven innovations, interpretation of results and how the results of research may be translated into practice.
  • Word Limit:
    • The total length of a submission, including the title, author information, abstract, text, tables, figures, notes, references, and appendices, should be approximately 5000-7000 words.
  • Formatting:
  • File Type:
    • The manuscript must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word file (.docx or .doc) including all contents. However, the author might have to submit the figures, diagrams, graphs, tables, or any graphic content in high quality (300 dpi) separate (.jpg or .psd) file/s to meet the printing requirements.

Who is the publisher of JQM?

 How can I submit my manuscript to JQM?

 Can I submit more than one paper for the same issue?

Yes, you can submit more than one paper at a time. However, our policy allows publishing only one paper per author per issue; or one paper per organization per issue.

 What is the frequency of publication of JQM?

JQM is a biannual journal. It publishes two issues per year.

 What is the copyright policy of JQM?

All articles published in JQM are distributed without any subscription charges under the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 International License. Thus, work submitted to JQM implies that it is original, unpublished work of the authors; neither published previously nor accepted/under consideration for publication elsewhere; and the authors, themselves, have got the permission from the copyright owners of the work cited in their manuscripts.

How much does it costs for publication in the JQM?

The journal does not charge for article processing, submission or publications.

When will I get the acceptance letter, if my paper is accepted?

The acceptance letter is provided to the authors after the editors select their manuscript for publication in the journal. It is tentatively issued to the authors of selected manuscripts only before two weeks of the publication date.

 Can I submit my manuscript to you even though it is published elsewhere?

No. The manuscripts submitted to JQM must be original and not been published previously anywhere else.

 When should I submit my papers? Are there any deadlines?

You can submit your manuscript at any time. Your manuscript will be published in the upcoming issue once it has successfully passed through the double blind peer-review process and selected by the editors for publication. However, the deadlines mentioned in the call for papers declare the cut-off point for considering the submissions for the subsequent issue. It means the manuscripts received after the deadline mentioned in the call for papers will be automatically considered for review and publication in the next issue.

 How can I find out about the status of my manuscript?

The corresponding author can track the article via email at submissions.jqm@umt.edu.pk by mentioning the manuscript ID in the subject of email.

 Does this journal assign DOI?

Yes. JQM is published by an organization who is a member of Publishers International Linking Organization (PILA / Crossref) that assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) to the papers which are published. The DOI is a unique identity that generally refers to the permanent address of a digital object or archive, therefore, makes it traceable over the internet. Is the journal published in print or online?

All issues of the JQM are published both in print and online versions

What is ORCID iD? Why do we need it? And how can we assign it?

The ORCID iD is a nonproprietary alphanumeric code to uniquely identify scientific and other academic authors and contributors.

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.

JQM requires all the contributing authors and co-authors to provide their ORCID iDs, as they are important for indexing and profiling, but also for enhancing their integral search visibility all over the internet. ORCID iDs are for lifetime and can be obtained free of charges through a simple registration process at https://orcid.org/register

 Who are the readers/subscribers of the JQM? How it is circulated?

JQM is receiving an overwhelming response from the scholars, academicians, researchers, policy makers and practitioners from the diverse fields of life. One thousand copies of each issue are circulated among all the major independent and institutional libraries in Pakistan; besides the editorial board members, authors, co-authors, and the dignitaries in Pakistan and abroad. Moreover, the digital version of each issue is made available without any subscription charges or any fee through the journal website, subscribed research databases and indices.

 How can I join the editorial board of the JQM?

All such requests are subject to the approval of the Editor-in-Chief.

Does the journal have plagiarism policy?

Yes. JQM follows the HEC anti-plagiarism policy that allows similarity up to 19%. The JQM strictly discourages plagiarism and encourages transparency and fair practice in publication. This policy guides that taking the ideas and work of others without giving them due credit is unfair and dishonest. Copying even one sentence from someone else's manuscript, or even one of your own that has previously been published, without proper citation is considered plagiarism; use your own words instead. The editorial board may reject a manuscript on the basis of reports generated by the plagiarism testing software, or upon the complaint of the victim(s) of plagiarism. If plagiarism, any other ethical misconduct or dispute is discovered after publication, the case will be referred to a purposefully constituted investigation committee to consider the matter in the light of guidelines by HEC Pakistan, and/or COPE standards.

Verbatim copying - Verbatim copying of more than 10% or 15% (or a significant passage or section of text) of another person's work without acknowledgement, references or the use of quotation marks.

Self plagiarism - UMT requires that all authors sign a copyright form that clearly states that their submitted work has not been published previously. If elements of a work have been previously published in another publication, including any UMT publication, the author is required to acknowledge the earlier work and indicate how the subsequent work differs and builds upon the research and conclusions contained in the previous work. Verbatim copying of author's own work and paraphrasing is not acceptable and we recommend that research should only be reused to support new conclusions.

We recommend that authors cite all previous stages of publication and presentation of their ideas that have culminated in the final work, including conference papers, workshop presentations and listserv communications. This will ensure that a complete record of all communication relating to the work is documented.

Double-Blind Peer Review Process

All JQM manuscripts are reviewed using a 'double-blind' peer review process in which means the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

To make this possible, anonymized versions of the manuscript is sent to referees. Submitted papers are first considered by the JQM Editor after submission. Papers that do not fall within the scope of JQM are 'desk-rejected'. In addition, papers that fail to meet a minimum threshold for quality and originality are also rejected without being sent out to the reviewers.

Papers passing through this initial editorial scrutiny are then typically sent out to three referees. If one or more of these turns down the invitation to provide a review, other referees will subsequently be appointed. Normally, at least three authoritative reviews are needed before the handling Editor can make a decision as to whether to accept, reject, or ask for a 'revise and resubmit' of the submitted paper. Currently, approximately 50% of the manuscripts submitted to JQM are desk-rejected, about 35% are rejected after peer review, and 15% are eventually accepted (most after being revised once if not twice). The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor's decision is final.

These manuscripts are carefully scrutinized by our professional proofreaders who help to ensure the accuracy of the paper by resolving any problems with the language, formatting and references to conform to the international standards for journal publications.

Article transfer service  

This journal is part of our Article Transfer Service. This means that if the Editor feels your article is more suitable in one of our other journals, then Editor suggest submitting the manuscript to one of those relevant journal(s). If you agree, your article will be transferred automatically on your behalf with no need to reformat or resubmit. Please note that your article will be reviewed again by the new journal.

Changes to authorship 

Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor may consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended. If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests may not be approved by the Editor.
