Introduction

International Journal of Aviation (IJA) is a multidisciplinary international journal launched in 2025 by Institute of Aviation Studies (IAS), University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, Pakistan. It provides the platform for exchange of new insights as well as opens avenues for further research.

IJA is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open access and biannual journal focused on the industrial and academic research as well as practical applications covering all aspects of aviation. The journal publishes original research papers, reviews, and case studies by personnel belonging to a variety of backgrounds including academicians, professionals and practitioners, thus promoting interdisciplinary critical thinking amongst scholars from the aviation industry.

Vision

IJA envisions to be the leading source of aviation knowledgebase that meets the expectations of aviation stakeholders from commercial, governmental, and academic sectors including individual business owners, researchers, innovators and the linkages between them, in shaping and enhancing the role of aviation industry in the socio-economic development.

Mission

The mission of IJA is to provide a reliable and an authentic knowledgebase to its readers by promoting researchers in the aviation industry as well as in academia to share their innovative research ideas, scholarly discussions and critical analysis on problems requiring applied aviation research.

Scope

The International Journal of Aviation will encompass a comprehensive range of topics spanning aerospace engineering and design, aviation safety and human factors, air traffic management, sustainable aviation, unmanned aerial systems, and aviation economics and management. It will also address aviation law and policy, military and space aviation, emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and autonomous systems, as well as aviation cybersecurity and digital threats. Additional areas include advanced air mobility, aviation medicine, aircraft maintenance and MRO, training and simulation technologies, airport security, cargo and logistics, passenger experience, regional aviation, and historical and future trends in the industry.
