About the Journal
The Journal of Ageing in the Global South (JAGS) aspires to be the leading international platform advancing research, dialogue, and policy innovation on ageing in low- and middle-income countries. We envision a future where the rights, well-being, active participation and independent living of older adults are recognised as central to social, economic and cultural vitality. By amplifying perspectives from the Global South, JAGS seeks to reshape global narratives on ageing and to highlight opportunities rather than burdens.
JAGS is committed to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed articles, reviews, and theoretical contributions that examine the social, cultural, economic, political, and psychological dimensions of ageing. With a particular emphasis on active and healthy ageing, positive paradigms of older persons, and their overall well-being, the journal promotes interdisciplinary approaches that draw on economics, demography, sociology, public health, social policy, and related fields. Our mission is to foster scholarly discourse that informs evidence-based policies, strengthens practice, and inspires innovative solutions for ageing societies in the Global South.
