Abstract

This research paper was meant to explore how social media influences the perception of people in relation to information about climate change in Pakistan. It targeted Pakistani population, specifically the people living in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, who were active users of social media. The research aimed at investigating the awareness level, attitude changes and perceptions regarding climate change severity in the general population. Data collection was done using quantitative research design. The survey technique was employed for data collection, and using a questionnaire, (n=287) responses were collected online in one month. The information was collected from the citizens in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. For data collection, participants of 16 years and older ages were selected. The findings make it clear that exposure to information about climate concerns is associated with better levels of awareness, improved shifts in attitudes, and stronger levels of concern over the severity of climate change.
